Oblig DRM post
I encourage you all to learn about Digital Rights Management and the harm that it does to people, communities, nations, Computer and other Science, Music (and musicians). I've spent tens of thousands of dollars and hours on being aware of the world around me and important issues within it and if anything is the fruit of my labour it is this conviction. Do not buy DRM if you can, and if you cannot avoid it consider it as a serious design flaw in your purchase decisions. Do not develop DRM if you can, and if you cannot avoid it at least charge more than ten times what you would otherwise ask(and put half of that into the pockets of the FSF. Bring awareness of DRM to your peers and to your government, and protect the former from DRM with the later.

This group is probably one of the better sources on the matter.

You've made some pretty bold claims here. Meth harms people, communities and nations, how does drm do the same? I know it's kinda bastardly to put it in those terms but your getting a bit thick with the propaganda these days.

Meth is the inevitable consequence of making pot hard to comeby and shitty living and social conditions. Meth harms communities like mudslides harm communities; They can sure wipe them out but there are deeper issues.

I consider computers essentially primitive thinking machines, and the idea of giving away my right to think to someone like microsoft(a private tyranny who is willing to employ coercion for power, and cause mass disoptima for profit) is nothing short of revolting. While DRM benefits some artists and creators, DRM puts obstacles in the way of most other creators, artists and people who might otherwise become creators and artists, in ways that are insidious and subtle.
